My new website www.renesplinter.com

Great news: I have a website!!!

Please, check it out at www.renesplinter.com

Since this weblog has started to fall apart (the design and most of my posts are deformed and pages are completely missing) since it has been migrated to a new provider, I have decided to work on my own personal website.

The new site is still in a development status, but there are some cool things to be seen there already, such as videos, a store and inside information about my albums. It will be added with great stuff, like photos, (more) videos and more info. And some great news will be announced there soon as well.

So, please go and explore my new site www.renesplinter.com and I’ll see you there.

And we’re back!!!

In case you have missed me, it’s because I appeared to have disappeared. However, the fact is that I have been around all the time, but this weblog has been out of air for quite a while. Reason seems to be the migration process to a different host did not work as was planned.

So, now I’m back with my weblog, but as you have probably noticed, the appearance of this site has changed drastically. Unfortunately, it seems that my custom layout has been distroyed and everything must be re-designed. Also, a horrible large ad banner is filling the screen and I think it is too distracting.

I think I’m not going to spend my precious time to do the redesign of this blog, and will find a different solution to inform you of my activities.

For now, please be welcome at my blog again.

New track “The Time Traveler” performed live at E-Day 2011 (Video)

The performance at E-Day 2011 on April 16th 2011 was a great success. At least, I had a great time, and it appears my audience seemed to have enjoyed my show as well.

For those who were not able to be there, and for those who would like to see parts of my performance again, I will try to upload some of the performed tracks on my YouTube channel. I'll start up with the World Premier of one of my new tracks called "The Time Traveler". This track is brand new and has not been released so far, nor has been heared by anyone yet. It will be available in a forthcoming album.

Electronic Music for Life

On March11 2011, Japan was struck no less than three serious desasters that took lifes of ten thousands of civilians, of which around 14 000 are still missing. Still more than 200 000 people are homeless, either due to the distruction of their homes, or due to the necessity to evacuate in order to escape from the hazardous nuclear radiation emitted from the heavily damaged Fukushima nuclear plants.

Red Cross volunteers are giving all they can to help the victims of these desasters. If you want to help them too, MellowJet Records has found out a brilliant way just to do that. A special and awesome double CD, “Electronic Music for Life” has been released, which is the result of a cooperation between well known EM artists, who all voluntered to submit a tracks. Most of the tracks are specially composed for the occasion. 100% of the sales revenue will go to the German Red Cross foundation.

EM For Life

As you would suspect, I also submitted a track, called “Tales of the Sundogs”.

Please, check out and purchase this brilliant album at www.em-for-life.de

You can either download the album for just EUR 13,99 or buy a physical CD for the same price (excl. shipping). I’d say that’s a reasonable price for a double album loaded with high quality Electronic Music by the world’s finest EM artists (and me).

“Dutch Masters” Groove sampler to be released soon

I have participated with the Groove Unlimited sampler "Dutch Masters", which will be released on February 18th 2011. The "Dutch Masters" album is initiated by Michel van Osenbruggen (aka Synth.nl) who came up with the idea to ask Dutch electronic music artists to compose a track inspired by famous Dutch master's paintings. This ended up into probably the best ever sampler that Groove has released so far, as the music on this album is simply astonishing.

Dutch Masters

The track which I have sumbitted is called "Tower of Babel", and is inspired by Peter Bruegel's painting "The Tower of Babel" which can be seen at the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. Other great artists, such as Rob Boots, Remy, Meesha, Synth.nl, Gert Emmens, etc. have sumbitted some absolutely amazing work. I think my personal favorite at the moment is the one by Remy called "Ascending and Descending", which is inspired by one of M.C.Escher's famous painting. Also I personally believe that Ron Boots has surpassed himself with the wonderfull track "Tuin der Lusten".

You can already hear samples of the album here at the Groove Unlimited website, where you can pre-order the CD.

Officially nominated for a Schallwelle price

As you know, the voting for the Schallwelle awards has ended two weeks ago. Thanks for everyone who has voted for me.

Schallwelle Preis

Unfortunately, it appears I will not be in the running for the prices of Artist International 2010 and Album International 2010 anymore. However, it also appears that I am now officially nominated for the Newcomer of 2010 price. I am nominated besides Battery Dead and also the lovely Matzumi .This price is voted by the Schallwelle jury. This means that the voting cannot be influenced by you as the audience, except for crossing your fingers and hoping for the best (of course you have already done as best as you can by your great support you have provided my during my performances).

The Schallwelle award ceremony will be helt at the Zeiss Planetarium in Bochum, Germany. It appears only a little more than 15 tickets are still available, and the ticket sales are going really great. So be quick to order your tickets if you would like to join the ceremony, which will be a festival on its own. The ceremony will be accompanied by three fantastic performances by Matthias Beine (DU), David Wright (UK) and none other than Robert Schroeder (DU). And, the legendary Klaus Schulze will be present to receive the 2010 Lifetime Achievement award personally.

Nominated twice for ‘Schallwelle Preis’

On March 12th 2011, the annual ‘Schallwelle-Preisverleiung‘ awards ceremony will be helt at the Zeiss Planetarium in Bochum, Germany. The Schallwelle Preis is probably the most important award known for at least the German, and perhaps also European electronic music genre, and is organized by Schallwende . During the ceremony, a special price – the Lifetime Achievement Award – will be personally received by Electronic Music pioneer Klaus Schulze .

This year, it appears I have been nominated not just for one price, but for a stunning two prices:
- Artist International 2010: Rene Splinter
- Album International 2010: Transit Realities
A 6 headed jury will also decide which artist will be ‘Best Newcomer of 2010′.

Your votes can be submitted at the following website: http://voting.schallwelle-preis.de/
You can sumbit your votes until January 31st 2011.

Video of my performance at Kunsthuis Secretarie Meppel

The performance at the opening of my friend Rene Maagdenberg‘s art exhibition at the Kunsthuis Secretarie in Meppel, the Netherlands, on November 28th, was a great experience. It appeared to be quite successful and well received as well.

I was told that a number of 125 people visited the opening (which seems to be quite exceptional for the organization of de Kunsthuis Secretarie).

In order to share the experience with you, the event is filmed and my performance part can now be seen on my YouTube channel. Or just hit the [play] button on the window below this text to see the video from here. I hope you like it.

Regarding the work that I performed at the event: The piece is called “Tower of Babel”, and it’s the ‘unplugged’ piano version of my new track, that will appear as an electronic version on the new Groove sampler The Dutch Masters. More about this will follow, of course.
